I like my spring decadent

While most fashionistas welcome the warm weather of spring, and the light colors of clothes and accessories, I prefer to stay dark in my sartorial choices…. case in point, this black, baroque blouse from BCBG Max Azria at shopbop.com:

I’m thinking of a black grandpa cardigan, in cotton naturally; light denim roll-up shorts; and saddle oxfords. Haven’t figured out the bag out yet, but it’ll be buttery brown and expensive! What will you do with this shirt, it you had a chance to make an outfit? How would you wear it for work, weekend, a special event? Behlor

Happy birthday, Michelle Obama — you dress so well!

I’m usually a blabbermouth, but in honor of First Lady Michelle Obama’s birthday (and impeccable style), I’ll remain silent and let stylecaster.com do an impeccable tribute of their own:

I wonder If Mrs. Obama is into cupcakes… I can bake a mean mango buttercream… Behlor

Winter Storm Helen (or do you like Sorels, Tims, or just that UGGly stuff?)

Hi (after a bit of a break),

After Superstorm Sandy wrecked many parts of the NYC area, another bitch of a nor’easter, Helen, will arrive in the next 48 hours… expect heavy rain, snow, and ice… New Yorkers may not live in paradise, but we still have to be fashionable… my favorite of the winter shit-kickers are the unapologetically not-in-the-fashion-mags Khombu Birch High 2 Black Patent:

These particular pair of tough lovelies sell for US$109.99 at zappos.com, and you’ll stand out in a fireplace-warmed room of winter fashionistas wearing their overexposed Sorels. Or, god forbid, Tims and Uggs. I don’t care if Jimmy Choo collaborated with Uggs. I think like a guy right here — even Scarlett Johanssen or Kerry Washington will look like crap in Uggs. I think that Scarlett and Kerry should try Khombu, if they must winter Helen… Behlor

Why another fashion blog?

I impulse buy… a Native American giver… last Saturday, I realized that I hated the coat and sweater I bought from JC Penney… so like a contrite waster of money, I bee-lined back to the store at Bay Plaza in the Bronx. I didn’t have my receipt, which meant trouble — and which caused trouble. I called for the manager — I couldn’t ever get an exchange. I did by my fugly  black coat via debit card though… they took the coat, and I received my money back… I was stuck with this sweater from Liz Claiborne though..Image

This sweater has grown on me… I’m thinking of wearing it to holiday parties and such… What would you do with a sweater like this one?
